Initially, Audi planned that the new A2 will be offered exclusively with the motor, and will hit the market in 2013. The electric motor could deliver 60 hp, operating from a lithium-ion batteries, with a range distance of 100 km. But now the company says that A2 can get a traditional range of engines, among which there will be new 1.0 liter. FSI with 60 hp (44.74 kW) and 1.0-liter TFSI is capable of 75 hp (55.9 kW).
Platform for future A2 was named the NSF and will be shared with the Volkswagen Lupo, the main difference between this base is the replacement of steel components for aluminum.
At the time, Audi A2 was not really popular car, because not everyone likes his narrow and tall body, but with a new platform in the company's promise to compete with all members of this class.
