Official premiere McLaren MP4-12C
Company McLaren Automotive has officially presented the road supercar MP4-12C which earlier known under code designation P11 and is the first car of firm since legendary F1.
The car name consists of several parts: index MP4 designates chassis by "Formula-1" of a McLaren team, since 1981; figure 12 — the internal rating of the company showing a parity of parametres own superpenalty with competitors; letter C — designates that in a model design carbon is applied. On it informs the British edition Car.McLaren MP4-12C has received the carbon chassis to which aluminium and special plastic body panels fasten. German tuning company Wheelsandmore has finished Audi R8 with the 4,2-litre 8-cylinder engine.

Within the next several weeks six private racing commands will receive 12 sports cars GT3 power over 500 h.p.
Transfer of the first client car has taken place on Tuesday on March, 10th in building Audi Forum. The head of sports division Audi, doctor Wolfgang Ulrih has solemnly handed over keys from R8 LMS to the head of Italian division Audi Sport Emilio Radaelli.Together with participation of a factory command in series DTM and creation of sports prototypes our new client sports program should become the third major direction of work Audi Sport, — Wolfgang Ulrih explains. — 2009 becomes year of design workings out and tests of sports model R8 LMS, the primary goal of division — to save up the maximum experience of management by the given car. Thus we are glad, that we will manage to make it thanks to participation in competitions of commands with which we and fruitfully co-operate for a long time.
In total in an automobile sports season 2009 on start leave twelve R8 LMS which will take part more than in 40 competitions almost on 30 European racing lines. R8 LMS — the first racing car developed by division Audi Sport specially for use in the client program. Participation of a factory command on R8 LMS in official sports meets is not provided.
Bodies, including tubular skeletons, are made by the company quattro GmbH in specially equipped to shop on manufacture of cars for the client sports program. Engines V10 are delivered by factory Audi located in the city of Der.

Shelby has strengthened Ford Mustang
Company Shelby Automobiles headed by the known race driver, has presented the "charged" version of 540-strong coupe Ford Mustang GT500 — Super Snake.
As informs American edition AutoWeek, the car has received serious modernisation of a technical stuffing, and depending on type of a mechanical supercharger which will be chosen by the buyer, power of 5,4-litre engine V8 can increase to 630 or 725 h.p.Besides a new supercharger "charged" Ford Mustang will receive the modernised cooler, a radiator, new system of brakes, and also mufflers of firms Borla or JBA which are completed on 630 and 725-strong cars accordingly.
Also tuning "Mustangs" will be equipped by suspension bracket Ford Racing with adjustable shock-absorbers, more rigid springs and thicker stabilizers of cross-section stability, and also an extension between forward racks. Besides it, the coupe will receive six-piston brake mechanisms of company Baer on a forward axis and 20-inch wheel disks with tyre covers Pirelli P-Zero.

A Tale Of Two Porsches

At the heart of this car is SCX’s potent RX4H motor. This powerplant has been tested to 26,000 RPMs! A far cry from the mild-mannered RX42B that came installed in the standard Porsche. Let’s pay the standard car some attention.
There is minimal play on the front wheels of my test car, and both wheels spin freely. I suspect that the stub axle design is a result of SCX designers making room for the digital chip and lane changing mechanism. Another benefit of this design is that there’s lots of room for weight placement which is a boon to non-magnet racers. Other differences to note between the two cars are the Pro car being 2.4mm wider than the standard car, and the standard car uses 5 screws to hold the body on vs. the Pro car’s 2 screws. The Pro car is also 5g lighter than the standard car, tipping the scales at 75g vs 80g. While the standard car does not have an adjustable motor pod, it does have SCX’s excellent 4 post motor pod design which effectively decouples the drivetrain from the body/chassis. The standard car also features functioning headlights and tail lights.
As good as both of these SCX cars look, they are destined for a life on the track, not as shelf queens. The Pro car ships without a traction magnet whereas the standard car has a typical SCX adjustable bar mag. Out of the box the standard car pulled 85g yielding a 9.044s fastest lap around my 22m test track. A quick adjustment with a screwdriver boosted magnetic downforce to 293g and saw the lap time plummet to 7.278s. For the sake of comparison I tested a few other Porsche 996/997 models in my collection with magnets.
Here’s how they stacked up with traction magnets in place:
• 6.610s – Scalextric Flying Lizard Porsche 996 (comes stock with a hotter Sport Plus motor)
• 7.278s – SCX Porsche 997
• 7.503s – NINCO Porsche 997
• 8.343s – Scalextric Red Bull Porsche 996

Clearly SCX has raised the performance stakes with these Porsches. While hobbyists will pay a premium for the performance of the Pro car, the standard SCX Porsche is an excellent value for the money. It can be made into a competitive race with only a bit of ballast and a better set of tires. For someone looking to make the step to a better performing car, the Pro car is an excellent choice. The range of setup options will be beneficial to someone just starting to learn about slot car tuning, and will give the seasoned racer an excellent platform to build on.

Lizards get ready for Utah
May 16, 2007 -- Tooele, Utah -- Coming off of a short break between races, the Flying Lizard Motorsports squad is readying for this weekend's Utah Grand Prix at Miller Motorsports Park. This will be the second year that the American Le Mans Series has raced at the new, 4.5 mile, 24-turn road course just outside of Salt Lake City.
In the team's No. 45 Porsche, Johannes van Overbeek and Joerg Bergmeister will continue the battle for the ALMS GT2 drivers' championship title. The two are currently second behind the Risi No. 62 Ferrari's Salo and Melo. Seth Neiman and Lonnie Pechnik will team up for this race in the team's No. 44 Porsche.
Bergmeister, who tested here earlier in the week with the team, commented, "Miller is a very technical track with lots of different types of turns so it's fun to drive. My favorite part is Turns 1 through 4: they are really quick, which I like. On setup, we have a lot to learn here; it's the first time this year we've been on a smooth permanent road course with the new 997. At a track like this where there's a combination of long straights and varied turns, getting a good balance aerodynamically in setup will be critical. In other words, if you take too much downforce out of the car for speed on the straight, you'll sacrifice your speed in the corners."
van Overbeek is looking forward to being back on a permanent road course. "We've had so many street races this year: one long race at Sebring, and then three street circuits in a row. This weekend will be the first time since Sebring that we've run on a road course track. The Porsche performed well here in our test over the weekend. Hopefully we'lll be quick enough to keep the pressure on the Ferraris. They were fast here last year and we expect it again this year."
Crew chief Tommy Sadler added, "This year's race is in May, rather than in July like last year. That will make a big difference in the experience overall. Cooler temperatures will be easier on the drivers and the car and tires. This is an important race -- after this, we reach the halfway point of the ALMS season. We have to work as hard as we can to make up ground on the championship."
The 2 hour and 45 minute race will begin at 5:05 p.m. Mountain Time, Saturday, May 19, 2007 and will be televised on CBS Sports tape delayed on Sunday May 20 from 1 to 3 pm Eastern Time. In Europe, MotorsTV will broadcast the race on Sunday May 20 from 18:30 - 21:30 in the UK and 19:30-22:30 (CET -Paris). Flying Lizard will broadcast their radio communications live during the race.
